Rue Mouffetard

Sunday was an absolutely delightful day. Starting with breakfast at a café near the end Rue Mouffetard (bottom of the hill), the assembled patrons and I were serenaded by song and music nearby. Apparently, this is a regular event for Sundays. All who participated seemed to enjoy themselves as well as those on the sidelines, including me with my camera.

But, I had to get my grocery shopping done, so I proceeded up Rue Mouffetard to do so. An experience in itself not worth dwelling on. However, for everything that I selected at the grocery store, the total bill did surprise me. It would have cost more than a third more for the same items at home. Cheese, eggs and bread were bought separately at different shops. Hmmm, odorous, tasty cheese. Chewy bread. And wonderful ripe cherries and sweet peaches, with a tomato and some lettuce for a salad.

Then, it started to rain harder. I managed to get back to the apartment with my bundles without getting too wet.

To confuse everyone, however, it was bright and sunny within an hour. So, I decided to spent the afternoon wandering around the nearby Jardin des Plantes.

Would like to chat more, but I must get up early tomorrow for the Republican Day parade commemorating Bastille Day. Will fill you in later about Sunday afternoon (warm and sunny) at the park, and Monday as the first day using my Navigo transportation card.
